This month, we wanted to take a minute to help our patients get to know their Las Vegas, NV, dentist better.
So here's our interview with Dr. Simon Tsang.
What First Sparked Your Interest in Dentistry?
My interest in dentistry started during my junior year in college after shadowing my dentist at home in Georgia.
Before that, like most people, I avoided the dentist simply because of all the unknown. It only took a few days of shadowing at the dental office to see how fulfilling the profession was.
I was amazed to learn that dentistry was so much more than just cleaning teeth! It was about helping people eliminate dental pain or transforming a person's smile. I was so impressed with all the things that a dentist can do. From there, I decided that dentistry was my path and career.
I attended Tufts University in Boston under a military scholarship for dental school. I served in the Navy as a dental officer for four and a half years. Shortly after I finished my time in service, I completed a 10-month residency program in Puerto Rico specializing in sedation and implant dentistry.
What's Your Favorite Part of Dentistry?
My favorite thing about dentistry is forming relationships with my patients and working with them to reach their dental goals. In addition, I enjoy spending time with all my patients to discuss the cause of their dental issues and not only fix their immediate needs but also to prevent any future problems.
In my opinion, dentistry is often viewed as elective health care where most of the public does not visit their dentist routinely or would only seek dental care on an emergency basis. However, I firmly believe proper preventative care can help patients avoid many dental diseases.
So my favorite part of dentistry is when patients see the results and are fully committed to caring for their dental health. Whether this is a dental cleaning, improving their gum health, or even more complicated cases such as a full mouth rehabilitation or a smile makeover. My mission is to treat my patients like my family and work together to have the same goal: Keeping their smiles as healthy as possible!
What Do You Think Sets Your Dental Practice Apart?
I think what sets us apart from other dental offices is that we are a patient-centered dental practice and not an insurance-based business. Our ultimate goal is to provide the best dental treatment to help our patients achieve their dental health goals.
While we accept most dental insurance, we will never let dental insurance companies dictate how to treat a patient.
What Do You Enjoy Doing In Your Spare Time?
On my days away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Cathleen, and our two Goldendoodle dogs. We love to hike and be outdoors when the weather is nice. I also love to bike! In addition, I enjoy all types of sports. Since I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, I am always rooting for my Falcons, Hawks, and Braves!
