At Russell Dental, we are pleased to offer tooth replacement with dental implants for patients all around the Las Vegas area.
Dr. Simon Tsang is an experienced dentist with advanced training in dental implantology. He offers a full range of implant services, including placement, restoration, bone grafting, and sinus lifts.
How Does a Dental Implant Work?
Implants are unique because they replace an entire tooth, not just the part that shows when you smile.
A dental implant is a titanium replacement tooth root that Dr. Tsang places surgically in the jawbone. During the next 3–6 months, bone and tissue grow around the screw-like threads of the implant as it heals. This process is called osseointegration, and when it's complete, the implant is as much a part of your dental anatomy as the original root was.
In the final step, Dr. Tsang attaches a beautiful, durable custom dental crown to the implant that enables you to chew your favorite foods comfortably again.
What Are Dental Implant Benefits?
Dental implants are an ideal tooth replacement because they offer numerous benefits.
Helps Stop Jawbone Loss
Tooth roots hold your teeth in place but do much more; they stimulate healthy jawbone regeneration. The process stops when you lose a tooth root, and the jawbone in that area immediately starts to shrink—as much as 25 percent in the first year alone.
An implant resumes the root's job, keeping the jawbone healthy and stopping additional bone loss. The implant stabilizes remaining teeth and fills out your features for a fuller, more youthful appearance.
Restores Comfortable Chewing
If you've lived with missing teeth, you know it's painful or impossible to chew certain foods. This affects your nutrition and quality of life as you have to give up the foods you love.
A dental implant restores full chewing function, so you feel comfortable indulging in foods like crisp apples and corn on the cob that you've been denying yourself.
Implants Last a Lifetime with Proper Care
Unlike tooth replacements like bridges and dentures that need to be replaced, an implant becomes part of your dental structure. Your implant can last a lifetime if you stay current with routine teeth cleanings and brush and floss consistently.
What's Involved with Getting a Dental Implant?
First, our dentist needs to see if you are a good dental implant candidate. Essentially, there must be enough dense jawbone in the area to successfully place an implant.
Are You a Good Implant Candidate?
Dr. Tsang determines density by evaluating the bone with advanced 3-D cone beam imaging (CBCT). If the jawbone is strong and healthy, we plan the next step: implant placement.
In some cases, there is not enough bone to support an implant, and Dr. Tsang will discuss bone grafting as an option. The grafting healing process takes 3–6 months, after which you can get your implant.
Dental Implant Placement Procedure
Dental implant placement requires the skill and expertise of a specially trained dentist like Dr. Tsang. The procedure is more comfortable than you might think because we administer a local anesthetic and ensure the area is fully numb so that you won't feel anything.
After the implant heals, we customize a high-quality zirconia dental crown to complete your smile. If we're placing multiple teeth, we would place several implants and then create a custom bridge or implant-supported denture to restore function and appearance.
Implants provide the stability that removable dentures don't have. By pairing them with implants, we deliver dentures that offer the most secure, comfortable fit possible. You'll wear your new dentures confidently, knowing they'll stay put no matter what foods you eat or how hard you laugh or sneeze!

Frequently Asked Questions
Dr. Simon Tsang is a skilled general dentist who has studied dental implantology extensively. He offers a full range of implant services, including placement, restoration, bone grafting, and sinus lifts.
How a Dental Implant Works
We offer dental implants at Russell Dental because they have proven to be reliable, long-lasting tooth replacements. An implant is unlike a bridge, denture, or partial because it consists of an artificial tooth root placed surgically in your jawbone.
As the implant heals, it fuses with the bone and tissue around it. This is called osseointegration and occurs over a 3–6-month healing period.
After healing, our implant dentist customizes a beautiful, natural-looking dental crown and attaches it to the implant. The crown is the part of the implant you see when smiling and allows you to chew comfortably.
Dental Implant Benefits
There are numerous dental implant benefits:
- Looks, feels, and functions like a real tooth
- Has a 95 percent success rate
- Lasts a lifetime with proper dental care
- Helps maintain a strong, healthy jawbone
- Prevents a drawn or sunken facial appearance
An implant is great for replacing a single tooth, and we can also place several of them along your jawline for full arch tooth replacement.

One of the significant advantages of dental implants in Las Vegas, NV, is that they have the potential to last for many years. In fact, with excellent home care and regular dental checkups, your implants may even outlive you!
Excellent care is one of the ways to ensure that your dental implant stays healthy and serves you for a long time. This means:
- Committing to a consistent home care routine that includes brushing twice daily and flossing once.
- Visiting your dentist in Las Vegas every six months for examinations and professional teeth cleanings. Your dentist will monitor the health of your implant with yearly x-rays.
- Quit smoking cigarettes. Smoking and tobacco use can lead to gum inflammation and infection, which is known to cause dental implants to fail.
- Avoid biting into hard food or objects. Like your natural teeth, your tooth implant is susceptible to fractures or damage when you bite directly into hard foods or chew on objects like pens or pencils.
- Protect your teeth from grinding (bruxism). Clenching and grinding your teeth, which typically takes place at night, can cause undue stress and damage to your natural teeth and dental implants. Your dentist can make a custom night guard to wear while you sleep to alleviate bruxism and protect your teeth.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Las Vegas?
It’s difficult to pinpoint an exact figure as to just how much a dental implant “should” cost. This is because the cost to the patient for dental implants is influenced by several factors:
- The type of implant used
- The extent of the damage to gums and surrounding teeth
- The number of teeth being replaced
- The need for associated procedures like bone grafting
- How much of the cost insurance will cover
For this reason, it’s crucial to consult with a dentist in order to fully assess your specific needs and accurately calculate costs.

Dental Implants Technology
3-D Cone Beam Imaging (CBCT)
When we plan root canals, dental implant placement, and surgical tooth extractions, it's crucial to see the structures of your mouth in enhanced detail.
At Russell Dental, we use sophisticated 3-D cone beam digital imaging technology (CBT or CBCT). These scans provide three-dimensional images showing the position and location of sinuses, nerve pathways, and root canals, in addition to soft tissue and bone density.
When we see these features in detail, our dentist can plan and perform these procedures with an extremely high degree of precision and accuracy. Cone beam CT scans are invaluable when planning implant placement to determine the optimal location and position in your jaw to ensure positive long-term outcomes.
Cephalometric (Ceph) X-Ray
A cephalometric or ceph x-ray is a unique diagnostic tool our dentist uses to capture a radiographic image of the side of your face. This type of x-ray is comfortable because it's taken outside the mouth (extraoral), and there's no need to bite down on any film.
We commonly use ceph x-rays when planning dental implant placement because they show the entire oral structure in one image. Viewing the ceph x-ray enables our dentist in Las Vegas to identify tooth fractures, jawbone injuries, and malocclusions (bite problems) to plan orthodontic treatment.
